Company Carpi – When You Light A Candle You Also Cast A Shadow

‘When You Light A Candle, You Also Cast A Shadow’ is a national dance award nominated dance and live music performance piece by Company Carpi.

Created by choreographer Bettina Carpi and composer Gary Lloyd, with a specially commissioned poetry cycle by Costa Award winning writer and poet Mary Talbot, the piece investigates creation & destruction, affect & effect, order & chaos and, in the light of the current climate crisis is a love letter to nature and its resilience, and a call to awareness of the dangerous state of our climate, our habitat, our planet.

When You Light A Candle, You Also Cast A Shadow is performed by a trio of dancers – Paige Lyon, Daisy Belle Howell & Lauren Tucker – with music performed live by the Candle String Quintet featuring musicians drawn from the very best orchestras in the Northwest including the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Halle.
