Call Out: Creatives sought for Family Garden Party

This year Warrington Arts Festival returns from 18 to 26 July – and we need your help to make one of our key attractions even more vibrant.

Due to popular demand, Family Garden Party will once again take place on the opening weekend of the festival – breathing life into Queens Gardens and inviting families to bring a picnic, enjoy incredible performances and try something new at interactive workshops.

As the countdown begins to the event, we are now looking for creative individuals and organisations to enhance the open-air event with workshops and activities.

You will have access to either an open green space, a table and gazebo or a wooden shed.

About Warrington Arts Festival:

Relaunched in 2024, Warrington Arts Festival is created with, by and for the people of Warrington.

Through our yearlong collaborations with Warrington’s community, young people and creatives, we celebrate our town through arts, culture, people, and place.

We bring this together at our large-scale vibrant summer festival, animating spaces across the town centre with an accessible and dynamic line-up of performances, events and activities.

What we’re looking for:

We are looking to fill our Family Garden Party with activities produced by local creatives, across any artform. Submissions could include art, crafts, movement, music, games or garden-themed activities.

We are not placing restrictions on the activity or artform – however we want proposals that resonate with our theme of celebrating Warrington through arts, culture, people and place.

This is open to creative individuals and organisations who are based in, from, or connected to Warrington and are interested in connecting with the community.

You can apply to run activities over one, or both, of the Family Garden Party days which are Saturday, 19 July, and Sunday, 20 July.

Budget:

Applicants will receive a day rate of £200 for running an activity and a materials budget of up to £300 (total).

How to apply:

Please email lizzy.thomson@culturewarrington.org with a proposal that covers the following:

  • A brief outline of your proposed activity.
  • A brief bio highlighting your previous work and any links to website and/or social media.
  • How many days you are applying to run activity, and a brief budget outline for materials
  • Specify whether you would prefer an open green space, a gazebo and table or a wooden hut.

You can submit either a written application, audio application or video application.

Please keep applications to under 500 words, one side of A4 or a five minute recording.

Deadline: End of the day on 1 June.

If you have any questions, or would like to arrange an informal conversation about your application, get in touch with Lauren Banks on lbanks@culturewarrington.org
