Dancers sought for exciting town project

Culture Warrington in partnership with dance artist Stacey Atkinson are seeking professional and community dancers for an upcoming performance called Stronger Together. 

Stronger Together will be performed as part of a weekend-long programme in Warrington. The choreography will be performed alongside a large scale, internationally renowned art installation, which will be announced to the public very soon, and will also kick start a month-long programme of events in the town centre.

Under the direction of Stacey Atkinson, Stronger Together aims to welcome professional, undergraduate and community dancers back to live performances.

A spokesperson for Stronger Together said: “This is a unique opportunity to perform at a high profile event and attract new audiences to Warrington town centre.”

Professional dance performers

We are seeking five experienced dance performers to make up the professional dance cohort for the programme. Dancers must have a strong contemporary technique training, openness to working collaboratively and creatively with fellow performers under the direction of the choreographer and have experience in performance. They also must be able to work alongside & engage with community dance cohorts and undergraduates.

We are looking for dancers who are from a variety of backgrounds, but we do hope to work with those who are from, living, working, or connected to Warrington.

All performers must commit to all the below rehearsal and performance dates.

  • 5 days of rehearsals: Rehearsal dates to be determined by doodle poll with successful performers between 10 January and 2 March (five days, mainly weekdays/ daytime)
  • Site visit rehearsal 26/27 February
  • Performance date TBC (4-6 March)

Fee: £840

Professional dance facilitators

We are seeking three facilitators to support Stacey in her choreographic direction, working with two cohorts of dancers:

  • 1 facilitator to work with a cohort of five professional dancers
  • 2 Facilitators to work with a cohort of up to 50 Community Dancers

Facilitators must have very good contemporary technique, strong creativity and an eye for detail and refinement.

We are looking for facilitators who are from a variety of backgrounds, but we would like to work with those who are from, living, working, or connected to Warrington.

Dates of contract and fee: Facilitators must commit to all of the below training, rehearsal, and performance dates within Warrington venues/ town centre locations.

Professional cohort facilitator:

  • Half day training on 9 January, 2.30pm to 5pm
  • Rehearsals to be determined by doodle poll with the dancers between 10 January  2 March (five days, mainly weekdays/ daytime)
  • Site visit rehearsal 26/27 February
  • Performance date TBC (4-6 March)

Fee: £980 

Community cohort facilitators:

  • Half day training, 9 January, 2.30pm to 5pm
  • Rehearsals: Sunday, 16 January, Sunday, 30 January, Sunday, 13 February, 9am to 5pm
  • Site rehearsal 26/27 February
  • Performance date TBC (4-6 March)

Fee: £700

Community dance performers

We are seeking 50 community dancers, aged between 11 and 18, to take part in this fantastic project. Community dancers must have very good contemporary technique, openness to working creatively with fellow performers and have experience in performance.

Dancers must commit to all of the below rehearsals/ performance dates:

  • Rehearsals: Sunday, 16 January, Sunday, 30 January, Sunday, 13 February, 9am to 5pm
  • Site rehearsal 26/ 27 February
  • Performance date TBC (4-6 March)
