Reopening of Warrington Museum & Art Gallery FAQs

Welcome back to Warrington Museum & Art Gallery!
We’re delighted to announce that our venue will reopen on Wednesday 8 July with some new measures in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit. These include regular deep cleans of our buildings, limiting the number of people in the venue at any one time and asking visitors to pre-book a start time for their visit.

We hope that you have a wonderful visit; we can’t wait to see you all again!

When will Warrington Museum & Art Gallery reopen?
Warrington Museum & Art Gallery will reopen on Wednesday 8 July, in line with the latest government advice.

What will the opening hours be?
Usual opening hours will apply:
Wednesday – Friday 10am – 4.30pm
Saturday 10am – 4pm
Sunday 11am – 3pm
As usual, the building will remain closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Bank Holidays.

How does the ticketing system work?
Visitor slots can be booked for free via the Warrington Museum & Art Gallery and Culture Warrington websites, after which tickets can be printed at home or sent to your email.

After booking, visitors are asked to arrive at the museum’s Bold Street entrance at their allotted time and join a short queue, where their tickets (printed or on their phone) will be scanned.

Can I still visit without a ticket?
Yes. Anyone without a ticket is asked to speak to a member of staff, who will monitor visitor numbers and allow entrance as soon as possible. Please note, there may be a short, socially-distanced queue and we may not always be able to accommodate people without a ticket.

How many people can I bring with me?
The main booker can select up to five tickets for members of their household. Each person must have their own ticket.

How does the one-way system work?
As usual, visitors will be greeted by a member of staff on arrival, who will introduce our new one-way system. Additional floor and wall signage is also on display to help direct visitors around the museum.

Will there be toilet facilities?
Our toilets will remain closed for the time being, except for our accessible and baby change facilities. Visitors can access these by speaking to a member of staff.

Will the shop be open?
The shop also remains closed at this time and our coffee machine will not be operational.

Will Crafternoons be running?
Unfortunately, due to social distancing, our popular Crafternoon sessions are unable to resume at this time but weekly craft activities are available on our social media channels.

Can I visit Warrington Museum & Art Gallery and Central Library during the same visit?
To accommodate social distancing regulations, it will not be possible to access Central Library from the museum entrance. Visitors also wishing to access Central Library will be able to do so using the library entrance in Museum Street. Please note that our archives services will also remain closed for the time being, in line with government guidance.

What other measures has Warrington Museum & Art Gallery put in place?
To provide a safe and enjoyable space for all our visitors, we have put a number of additional measures in place, including:
· Regular deep cleaning of our facilities;
· Multiple hand sanitising stations throughout the building;
· Limiting the number of visitors at any one time to allow for social distancing.
· To maintain optimum levels of cleanliness, all furniture and interactive equipment has been removed from the gallery spaces
